Welcome to Sharp Rees-Stealy (SRS) Pediatric Clinics
Congratulations to Dr. Norman Gollub, who persevered and championed Reach Out and Read for all of the Sharp Rees-Stealy pediatric clinics. ROR San Diego as well as the Sharp Foundation are committed to helping get the financial resources and books needed for the thousands of children served by Sharp Rees-Steely. Establishing a ROR site at SRS adds to the variety of offices that we have as part of RORSD, from community clinics to large private groups, from individual pediatric offices to small diverse groups across the county.

    Need a Tax Deductible Donation?
The AAP-CA3, a non-profit 501(c)3 is able to accept book money for sites and provide a tax deductible receipt. Sites that do not have this non-profit status can have donors send a check to the AAP- CA3 indicating that this money should be set aside for a particular site. After purchasing books sites can send us an invoice which we will deduct from their account. Or sites can participate in bulk book buying with the collaborative and use the money in their account. There is no charge to sites for this service.

The American Academy of Pediatrics, CA Chapter 3 (AAP-CA3), under the leadership of Chapter President Donald Miller, Executive Director Meredith Kennedy, Associate Director Tara Milbrand, and ROR Champions within the Chapter, is the organizing agency for a coordinated Reach Out and Read effort in San Diego County.

    Legislative Advocacy

    Dear ROR Providers and Friends,

The "Prescribe a Book Act"(S.1895) was introduced this summer in the U.S. Senate, legislation that authorizes Reach Out and Read and is urgently needed to help restore ROR's federal funding after two years of significant cuts. Thanks to your hard work, we currently have 41 sponsors/cosponsors - a tremendous achievement! For the most recent list, visit:
    http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi- bin/bdquery/z?d110:SN01895:@@@P.

On December 11th, a companion bill was filed in the House (HR 4449) by Congressmen Donald Payne (D- NJ) and Mark Souder (R-IN). We must now work on securing House cosponsors, and we need your help in this campaign to make it a success.

Please follow the instructions below, and take a moment to call your Representative today. Thank you!

    1. Go to our Legislative Action Center: http://capwiz.com/ro r/home/.
    2. Under "Legislative Action Center" you will see "ACTION ALERT" Click on "Call NOW."
    3. In the CALL NOW box, type in your zip code and hit "go."
    4. Your Representative's phone number will come up. Call your U.S. Rep, using the talking points to make the phone call a success.
    5. After the call, fill out the feedback form so that we can keep track of who has been called and follow up with Congressional offices.
If you have any questions, contact Abbie Bloom at 617- 455-0642 or abb ie.bloom@reachoutandread.org
