| Need a Tax Deductible Donation? |
|
The AAP-CA3, a non-profit 501(c)3 is able to accept book money for sites and provide a tax deductible receipt. Sites that do not have this non-profit status can have donors send a check to the AAP- CA3 indicating that this money should be set aside for a particular site. After purchasing books sites can send us an invoice which we will deduct from their account. Or sites can participate in bulk book buying with the collaborative and use the money in their account. There is no charge to sites for this service.
|
| The American Academy of Pediatrics, CA Chapter 3 (AAP-CA3), under the leadership of Chapter President Donald Miller, Executive Director Meredith Kennedy, Associate Director Tara Milbrand, and ROR Champions within the Chapter, is the organizing agency for a coordinated Reach Out and Read effort in San Diego County. |

Reach out and Read San Diego (RORSD)
Collaborative
is working to help expand and sustain Reach out and
Read (ROR) in San
Diego by recruiting new sites, providing
communication among existing sites, providing
support with progress reports and book inventory,
sending out trainers for ROR training of new staff and
physicians and assisting with and coordinating
fundraising for book money. RORSD is continuing to
expand in San Diego, reaching more children, with 36
active sites and several more applications in
progress. For assistance or
questions please contact ROR Leader
Tara Milbrand at tmilbrand@aapc

the country visit www.reachout

Six Month Progress Report Due 9/03/07
Funding Dependent on Prompt Reporting
All sites should have received an email with your ID,
password, and notification of your 6 month progress
report coming due. This report requires January -
June data.
To complete the July report visit www.myror.org. After
you login scroll down to Reports & Tools. Click
on "work on report". Please note that for Step
4 "Report Data" Item #1, box 3 "#RIF books" has been
filled in for RIF recipients. Also, item #6, box 1 "cash
distributed by coaltion or collaborative" has been filled
in. The cash value was calculated by multiplying the
number of books, given by the collaborative to the site
between January and June, by $2.75. This total
includes RIF books distributed to sites. If you receive
RIF books from RORSD and choose to have your
National ROR funds distributed through the "More
Books, Less Time" option, receiving periodic
shipments of books instead of Scholastic funds,
please contact Tara Milbrand at tmilbrand@aapc
a3.org.
These reports are crucial for ROR National to
calculate sustainability funding for all 2,900+ sites and
for continued Department of Education Federal
funding to ROR National Center to cover start up and
sustainability funding for all sites.
The 6 month report also acknowledges what your
clinic has done well, helps your clinic identify what
needs improvement, and provides your clinic with
statistics for funders.
A 6-month progress report is due after the clinic has
implemented ROR for 6 months. Funding is given
after one full year (2 progress reports submitted).
Reports are available each January and July; notice
only emailed to primary mailing contact on file with
ROR National. A paper report is available, but not
recommended. Online report is simple and best for
National. They calculate it takes 15-20 minutes to
complete.
If you've misplaced your site ID or password to login
please contact Tara Milbrand at
tmilbrand@aapc
a3.org. If you have problems
accessing or difficulties completing online, contact:
Alison Driscoll 617-455-0671 National Programs
Assistant Ali
son.Driscoll@reachoutandread.org or
Eric Belford Information and
Database Administrator Eric.
Belford@reachoutandread.org You can view
previously
submitted reports for: 9- digit Federal Tax ID number
and population served percentages.
Send in a progress report even if you are currently out
of book money and have been unable to fully run ROR
at your site!

BE One For The Books!
Reading Is Fundamental (RIF) and Macy's have
teamed up to create a national partnership supporting
children's literacy-Be One For the Books! This
program will help RIF expand its outreach to the many
children who lack adequate access to books and who
are at the greatest risk for reading difficulties.
Macy's customers can help reach underserved
children by making a donation for RIF. Each customer
who donates $3 for RIF at any in-store register will
receive a savings pass for $10 off most future Macy's
purchases of $50 or more.
This campaign is an opportunity to have a direct
impact on your community. For every $3 donation, $1
will go to support local RIF programs; $1 will go to
RIF's Multicultural Literacy Campaign; and $1 will help
RIF's ongoing efforts to provide reading resources to
millions of underserved children across the country.
(Funds will be distributed in FY08 by RIF National to
local RIF programs in good standing according to
greatest need. Please send all inquiries to macys@rif.org.
