Golden Book Award
Congressman Brian Bilbray Visits NCHS, San Marcos
On August 8th, North County Health Services
(NCHS), San Marcos hosted Congressman Brian
Bilbray in order to raise awareness for Reach
Out and Read in San Diego. A group of local children
enjoyed the telling of "House Mouse" by Congressman
Bilbray. There was a book for each child as well as
books for the clinic provided by National ROR. We
appreciate Congressman Bilbray's acknowledgement
and support of RORSD!
Thank you to NCHS, San Marcos, staff Michelle Davis
(ROR coordinator), Sylvia Aguilar and Nancy
Ellis for all their hard work on the event. It was a
great success!

Progress Report Due Date Extended
Due Date extended to October 6th!
The due date for July's progress report has been
extended to Friday, October 6th. All sites who have
not yet submitted their progress report should have
received an email with your ID, password, and
notification of the extension. July's report requires
January - June data. Site who have sumitted
their report should be receiving their funding in the
next few weeks.
These reports are crucial for ROR National to
calculate sustainability funding for all 2,900+ sites
and for continued Department of Education Federal
funding to ROR National Center to cover start up and
sustainability funding for all sites ($10 million FY06).
The 6 month report also acknowledges what your
clinic has done well, helps your clinic identify what
needs improvement, and provides your clinic with
statistics for funders.
A 6-month progress report is due after clinic has
implemented ROR for 6 months. Funding is given
after one full year (2 progress reports submitted).
Reports are available each January and July; notice
only emailed to primary mailing contact on file with
ROR National. A paper report is available, but not
recommended. Online report is simple and best for
National. They calculate it takes 15-20 minutes to
complete.
You can also find the 6 month report by visiting www.myror.org
(new website for existing ROR sites effective 4-26-
06; www.reachoutandread.org remains website for
media and people interested in getting involved).
Click on "Program Administration" on first line in the
center of the page. Enter site ID # and password
(found on your letter from ROR National). If you have
problems accessing or difficulties completing online,
contact:
